About the FGD order
The FGD system is a technology that removes sulfur dioxide (SO2) from the exhaust gases of coal-fired power plants. SO2 is a major contributor to air pollution and acid rain and can cause respiratory problems and environmental damage. The FGD system helps power plants to meet the emission norms set by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC).
The order from GSECL is on an Engineering Procurement & Construction (EPC) basis and has a basic value of Rs 444 crore. The scope of work includes the design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, shop testing, packing & forwarding, installation, commissioning, and PO testing of the FGD system. The project is expected to be completed by January 2026.
GE Power India has rich experience in providing FGD systems to power plants in India. The company has successfully executed FGD projects for several power utilities in the country, such as NTPC, Gujarat Power Corporation Ltd., Damodar Valley Corporation, and Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Ltd.
The order from GSECL is a testament to GE Power India’s expertise and leadership in pollution control solutions. The company is well-equipped to cater to the growing demand for FGD systems in India, as the country aims to reduce its carbon footprint and improve its air quality.
