Bengaluru, May 16, 2023: Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) has won a large order worth Rs 675 crore for the design, manufacture, and commissioning of 10 trainsets on the Vande Bharat platform. The order has been placed by the Indian Railways.
The trainsets will be manufactured at BEML's Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai. The first trainset is expected to be delivered in 24 months, and the remaining nine trainsets will be delivered in the next 36 months.
The Vande Bharat trainsets are based on the Train 18 platform developed by BEML. The trainsets are equipped with state-of-the-art features such as LED lighting, CCTV cameras, and automatic doors. They also have a maximum speed of 160 kmph.
